This gorgeous sculpture by John Gutierrez is from 1997-2003. Per the artist, The design was inspired from the Canyon De Chelly petroglyph and pictographs depicting anthropomorphs with the elongated forms. The shield symbols represent venus(+) and sun with the middle divided by a lightning bolt, symbolizing power/energy. The crown head is mostly decorative in its form but also inspired the mountain god or crown dancers from San Idelfonzo in a smaller form. This is 30" wide and 40" tall.
