As shown. See all photos. Belonged to my maternal grandparents, picked up during their travels. He’s seen better days, but is still a unique one-of-a-kind rare antique piece. You can see the chipping at the crown of his head. From the front he looks less blemished. Armor also chipped in a circular outline on chest, not sure why. A detail must have detached. <br><br>7.5” x 3” x 2”<br><br>“This is an antique Japanese mid Meiji Era (c. 1890's) Samurai warrior Shogun doll done in a soft sculpture with silk kimonos over a firm base. He has a wooden head and gofun (crushed oyster shell) finished face along with carved wooden hands. He is supposed to have a samurai sword or an ax, but his weapon is missing. The full set of armor is very realistically detailed.”
