Hutschenreuther Selb Tea Cup, Saucer & Platter Set, made in Bavaria, Hohenburg, Germany. Features purple flowers and gilt or gold detailing (see notes below).Back-stamp: (Period of 1925-1939)*Note: The Hutschenreuther Selb porcelain of this era typically used 22 c. gold, decorated by Osborne Art Studio. However, there is no Osborne stamp on this set and it has not been appraised. Therefore, it is conservatively estimated that the rim of this set is painted in gilt; however, this is an assumption.History:Hutschenreuther is a German family that established porcelain production in northern Bavaria, starting in 1814. The business was founded in 1814 by Carol’s Magnus Hutschenreuther (1794-1845) in Hohenberg an Der Eger, Bavaria, Germany. He had previously worked at the Wallendorf porcelain manufactory in Lichte (Wallendorf.) After his death in 1845, the factory was headed by his widow, Johanna Hutschenreuther, and her two sons. A large part of the factory was destroyed.
